02 — FEELING UNDERSTOOD

Bring all of it: your history, your family, your culture.

Bring all of it: your history, your family, your culture.

Bring all of it: your history, your family, your culture.

People come to therapy with me for different reasons. Some want a therapist they won’t have to explain their family, faith or workplace to. Some tried therapy before and it didn’t feel like a fit. Some are starting for the first time and aren’t sure what to expect.

Wherever you’re starting from, it’s welcome here. Being Black isn’t one experience, so I won’t assume I know yours. I’ll ask, listen, and let you set the pace.

04 — MY APPROACH TO THERAPY

How I work

How I work

How I work

Therapy with me is a conversation, not a lecture. In our first sessions I’ll mostly listen, so I understand what’s going on and what matters to you. Then we work out together what you’d like to be different. I bring in practical tools when they’ll help, like a new way to handle anxious thoughts or a plan for a difficult conversation. You set the pace, and if something isn’t working, I want you to tell me so we can change it.

How often will we meet, and for how long?
